Selecting Correct Frame Size

STANDARD FRAME SIZES

  • Standard frames are sized to correspond with the artwork dimensions. If you have artwork that measures 18" x 24", then you would order an 18" x 24" frame. (see figure 1)
  • All frames sizes listed on our frame ordering pages are standard sizes.
  • The frame measurement corresponds to the size of the rabbet recess on the rear of the frame, that the artwork sits in. The actual opening of the frame, when viewed from the front, will be slightly smaller. Also, the same sizing method is used when ordering rabbet felt strips.

  • To get the approximate outer dimensions of a frame, take the width of the frame and add that value to each side of your artwork's dimensions. For example: An 18" x 24" frame with a 5" frame width would measure approximately 28" x 34" in outer dimensions, varying slightly depending upon the manufacturer. (see figure 2)

CUSTOM FRAME SIZES

  • Custom sized frames are cut to correspond with the artwork dimensions. If you have artwork that measures 18-1/2" x 24-1/2", then you would order an 18-1/2" x 24-1/2" frame.
  • Additional charges may apply.
  • Custom sized frames are non-returnable/non-refundable.
  • Custom sizes are only available for certain frame styles. When viewing the frame ordering pages look for the "custom frame sizes available" notification. (see figure 3)
